Philomena who fronted the Dawnbreakers was Philomena Maguire from Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh, (married name now Quinn and still living with her husband Gerry and family in Irvinestown). That photograph was taken in 1967 in Forthill Park, Enniskillen! Philomena married Gerry Quinn who played sax and vocals firstly with The Trenniers, then with The Claxton, also Brian Coll and the Buckaroos.

Philomena and Gerry are parents of Sinead Quinn who in 2002 came second in BBC TV’s FameAcademy. Sinead now lives in St Alban’s with her husband Paul Stewart who is drummer with top UK band The Feeling. Sinead now has reinvented The Dawnbreakers and if you Google Sinead and the Dawnbreakers you’ll get some of what she’s up to.   (courtesy of Seán McGrade)
