In the photo (from left), Paddy Farrell from
Ballyfermot played sax and flute. He also played with The Clouds.
Frankie Carroll, a native of Tuam, County
Galway, he later joined The Big 8 in Las Vegas, U.S.A.
John O'Brien from Drumcondra played lead guitar. He had played
with Johnny Regan and The Tumbleweeds and The New Blues. When The
Ranchers broke up he helped form and played with the original Bagatelle.
Pat Fortune from Ringsend was the bass player.
Some folks may remember him as the vocalist and bass player on the hit
record "Morning Dew" by Sugarshack. Mark McCormack from Shankill
was trumpet player and MC. He had played with John Farrell and the
Dreams before joining The Ranchers. He was a son of one of the famous
Fossett Circus family. |

Shay Spain from Nenagh had played with The Tumbleweeds
and The Conquerors before joining the Ranchers. Timmy Weadick from
Arklow was the only other original member of the band. He was a
trombonist and a fabulous pop singer. He is the tenor voice on the
recording of "Mr. Bassman" (courtesy of Frankie Carroll).
