Kevin Harper had a ceili band and he also started a modern dance band. Mark Canavan who was in the dance band started a band called Mark and his Swingsters which included some future members of Arklow's Red Seven. Some members of the Swingsters left and formed The Avonairs and from there went on to form the Red Seven. (Des Mulhall)
